Horts Engineering – 80kW Solar & 96kWh Battery Storage System

Commercial Solar and Battery Storage Built for Business Continuity

Press Power Group designed and installed an 80kW solar system with 96kWh of battery storage for Horts Engineering at its new headquarters in Orange. The system was designed not only to reduce grid reliance, but also to support the continued operation of the business’s critical office systems.

  • Solar System: 80kW
  • Solar Panels: TW (Tongwei) solar panels
  • Inverters: 2 × Sigenergy 30kW inverters
  • Battery Storage: 2 × 48kWh Sigenergy battery stacks
  • Total Battery Capacity: 96kWh
  • Location: Horts Engineering headquarters, Orange
  • Project Focus: Energy savings, backup capability and business continuity

Why Sigenergy Was Chosen

Sigenergy was selected for the project because of its design, safety features and ability to be expanded in the future. Each 30kW Sigenergy inverter was paired with a 48kWh battery stack, creating a total of 96kWh of storage across the system.

The modular design also gives Horts Engineering the flexibility to add further battery capacity later if the business’s energy requirements increase.

Designed to Support 24-Hour Operations

A key requirement of the project was ensuring the new Orange headquarters could maintain essential office operations during a power interruption. The battery system was designed to provide backup support for critical equipment including:

  • Phones
  • Computers
  • Office communications
  • Essential business systems

This helps Horts Engineering maintain continuous availability for teams operating across Australia, even when the local grid is unavailable.

Solar and Battery Designed as One System

Rather than treating solar and battery storage as separate projects, Press Power designed the system as one integrated energy solution. The 80kW solar array generates electricity during the day, while the 96kWh battery system provides storage that can be used when solar generation is lower or when backup power is required.

This approach gives the business greater control over how electricity is generated, stored and used across the site.

Built for Today. Ready for Tomorrow.

The project was designed with future expansion in mind. If Horts Engineering’s energy usage grows, the Sigenergy battery platform provides the flexibility to increase storage capacity without redesigning the entire system. That gives the business a strong foundation for future growth while improving energy resilience today.
