See Saw Winery – Multi-Site Battery Storage Upgrade
Adding Battery Storage Across Four Existing Solar Sites
Press Power Group upgraded four See Saw Wine sites by adding battery storage to their existing solar systems, helping the business make greater use of the energy already being generated on-site.
Each location received a new Sungrow SH25T hybrid inverter paired with 50kWh of battery storage, creating a consistent battery solution across the four properties.
- Sites Upgraded: 4
- Battery Storage: 50kWh at each site
- Battery Configuration: 2 × Sungrow SBH 25kWh battery stacks per site
- Inverter: Sungrow SH25T hybrid inverter at each site
- Existing Solar: Battery systems integrated with existing solar installations
- Backup: Designed to provide backup capability for homes and sheds
- Energy Trading: Connected to the Amber platform
- Project Focus: Increase solar utilisation and improve the return from stored energy
Getting More From Existing Solar
The project started with solar systems already operating across the four sites.
Rather than replacing those systems, Press Power designed the battery upgrades around the existing solar infrastructure, giving See Saw Wine the ability to store more of the electricity being generated during the day.
Each site now has 50kWh of battery capacity, allowing surplus solar to be retained for use when it provides greater value.
Battery Storage With Backup Capability
Backup capability was also an important part of the project. The new battery systems were configured to support selected homes and sheds, providing additional energy resilience when grid power is unavailable. For a regional operation spread across multiple sites, that gives the batteries a role beyond energy savings alone.
Making Use of the Federal Battery Incentive
The systems were designed to make effective use of the available Federal Government battery incentive, helping improve the economics of installing storage across all four locations.
By combining existing solar with appropriately sized battery systems, See Saw Wine was able to invest in additional storage while taking advantage of the support available for eligible installations.
Trading Energy Through Amber
The battery systems are also connected to the Amber energy platform. During periods when irrigation isn’t placing high demand on the properties, the batteries can participate in electricity price movements to help improve the potential return from stored energy.
This gives See Saw Wine greater flexibility over when electricity is stored, used or traded, while still keeping the systems available for the property’s operational requirements.
A Consistent Solution Across Multiple Sites
Using the same Sungrow inverter and battery configuration across all four properties created a consistent approach to energy storage. That makes the systems easier to manage while providing each site with:
- Greater use of existing solar generation
- 50kWh of battery storage
- Backup capability
- Flexible energy management
- Potential participation in electricity-market pricing
- Scope to improve the value of solar already installed
Considering Batteries for an Existing Solar System?
You don’t necessarily need a completely new solar installation to add battery storage. Press Power can assess an existing commercial, rural or residential solar system and determine how battery storage could be integrated around your energy use, backup requirements and future plans.
